Surrounding Area
Hamburg is the second-largest city in Germany and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Germany because the city has a unique diversity of entertainment and sightseeing attractions. It boasts 31 theatres, six music halls, ten cabarets and 50 state and private museums. Of the 4000 restaurants, 2400 offer foreign cuisine - there is plenty of elegant restaurants in Hamburg, and the most famous food is the fresh seafood.
Hamburg contains some magnificent architecture, with the cathedrals of St Jacobi and St Michael impressive sights, and the second offers stunning views of the city. Hamburg's harbour is the second largest harbour in Europe (by shipments) and among the ten largest in the world.
Nightlife in Hamburg is well-known around the world, the leading clubs and shops are in St Pauli and its main street “the Reeperbahn”. If you are a night owl who enjoys good home-made style food and loves being near the water, Hamburg should be your top choice.
