We are a language school located in Berlin, Kreuzberg specialized in teaching German as a Foreign Language (DaF) to adult learners. We are a licensed telc partner and certified examination centre. Our course system and teaching plans are based on CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). A welcoming teaching environment that encourages participation in class is as important to us as highly educated and creative teachers. The intensive German course lasts 3 teaching units (45 minutes) per day, the superintensive German course is slightly longer: it lasts 4 teachings units per day. Both German courses cover the same amount of material, but the Superintensive course gives you more time to practice what you have learned.

INTENSIVE: 48 lessons/ month, SUPERINTENSIVE: 64 lessons/ month

Our teaching methods

• Dynamic, communicative teaching approach: i.e. a lot of speaking!

• The focus lies on the active application of what has been learned from the first lesson onwards.

• The only language used in class is German.

• Regular evaluation of the learning progress of our students through repetitions and language tests

• Frequent use of the direct method, which conveys the feeling for the German language in a playful way through conversation, listening and repeating, role plays as well as visual elements.

• Error correction and feedback from the teacher

• Our native-speaking teachers convey an authentic feeling for language. Well-trained and experienced, easy to deal with and motivated, creative and open.

• Up-to-date, varied and well-chosen teaching materials, which are also aimed at imparting knowledge about Germany.

• The linguistic ability and skill areas are derived from the four basic skills (speaking, writing, listening and reading); the skill of speaking is divided into two parts: participating in conversations (interactional speaking) and speaking coherently (transactional speaking). This results in five areas of ability and skill. It is particularly important to us to develop these five linguistic abilities and skills of each student equally and to promote them with appropriate learning tasks.

Surrounding Area

Berlin Kreuzberg has historically been home to Berlin's punk rock movement as well as other alternative subcultures in Germany. The SO36 club remains a fixture on the Berlin music scene. It was originally focused on punk music and in the 1970s was often frequented by Iggy Pop and David Bowie. In those days the club rivalled New York's CBGB as one of the finest new-wave venues in the world.

There has also been a significant influence stemming from African-American and hip hop culture on Kreuzberg's youth and the area has become a centre for rap and breakdance within Berlin. Though the majority of Kreuzberg's residents are of German or Turkish descent, some identify more with American or African-American culture. Hip hop was largely introduced to the youth of Kreuzberg by the children of American servicemen who were stationed nearby until the reunification of Germany.

The Carnival of Cultures, a large annual festival, celebrates different cultures and heritages with colourful street parades and festivities including street entertainment, food, arts and craft stalls, music and art.

Kreuzberg has long been the epicenter of LGBTQ life and arts in Berlin. Kreuzberg is home to the Schwules Museum, established in the 1980s and dedicated to preserving, exhibiting, and discovering queer history, art and culture.

Activity

DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

This Workshop is designed for students who want to tell better stories with their camera.

Our tutor is specialized in documentary, travel and portrait photography and she will show you what to consider in these field of photography to make your photos stand out.

You will work together on one project and at the end of this module you will have opportunity to show your pictures in an exhibition in our school.

In this course basic knowledge and familiarity with camera operation is required.

The lessons will be taught in simple German

STREET PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

This workshop aimed at everyone who wants to catch true and real-life moments with camera.

Street photography is not only about finding the transience and

beauty, but also sadness and melancholy in everyday life.

You will work together on one project and at the end of this module

you will have opportunity to show your pictures in an exhibition in our school.

In this course basic knowledge and familiarity with camera operation is required.

The lessons will be taught in simple German.

FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

Fashion photography is a very special field of photography, in which various factors

play an important role. Cooperation with models, light, clothing presentation needs

a special set of skills, which you will learn during this Module with our mode photographer.

You will work together on one project and at the of this Module you

will have opportunity to show your pictures in a vernissage in our school.

In this course basic knowledge and familiarity with camera operation is required.

The lessons will be taught in simple German.

PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

What makes a strong portrait? Is it the expression of the models? is it perspective or is it light?

How do I achieve a perfect mood in my picture?

Together with a portrait photographer you will find an answer for all your questions about

portrait photography. In this module you will travel to the world of people and their

peculiarities and at the end your picture will be shown in an exhibition in our school.

In this course basic knowledge and familiarity with camera operation is required.

The lessons will be taught in simple German.

Regular excursions for exploring Berlin is also offered regularly.

Getting to the school from the airport

FASTEST WAY

from MÖCKERNBRÜCKE (U1 & U7) – you will walk a short distance of 3 minutes to the school. You might pass the river (but there’s an exit where you don’t have to – this EXIT’s name: Tempelhofer Ufer), having the river on your left, pass a hostel on your right, turn first right into the Großbeerenstraße and the school is on your left. For the fast-paced!
