The “Collegium Augustinianum Gaesdonck” – in German simply known as “Die Gaesdonck”, is a leading boarding school in Germany with resident and non-resident students, both male and female. “Die Gaesdonck” is a secondary school (“Gymnasium”) but incorporates also a music school, an art school, a junior business school and a children’s college. Gaesdonck offers broad educational possibilities and "G9" as well.

“Die Gaesdonck” was founded by the Münster diocese in 1849 and it has remained a modern
private school ever since. Full boarders, day boarders and day pupils harmonize very well in the unique environment. From this point of view “Die Gaesdonck” is very well established in the educational system of the Lower Rhine area and is attractive to families throughout Germany and abroad. The school is located in North Rhine-Westphalia close to the Dutch boarder within reach of the international airport of Dusseldorf. Special care for international students is given among others by ongoing German as a foreign language support already included in the fees. What makes the school even more attractive are special advanced courses in the fields of "Arts and Design", "Business Economics" and "Medical Science" which can be applied for by upper-level students of that school.

Collegium Augustinianum Gaesdonck is a combination of school and internat. This school is situated in Goch, a city in Nordrhein-Westfalen. This school offers variety of subjects,which varies by class. The plus point of this school is that they start with the computer early in class 5, they also value consultation starting class 9, since its a important time to prepare for the Abitur exam.

The boarding house has spaces for about 110 to 120 students. Right beside the boarding house is the Klostergarten,sports ground. There is also free wifi available for all students.

Till middle school level the students share there room with one student. In middle school and high school level, they will get a single room. All roomes have a sink. Shower and toilets are on the same floor. The rooms are fully equipped and waiting for the students.

Surrounding Area

Goch is a town in the district of Kleve, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated close to the border with the Siebengewald in Netherlands, approx. 12 km (7 mi) south of Kleve, and 27 km (17 mi) southeast of Nijmegen.Goch is at least 750 years old: the earliest mention of Goch is in a document dated 1259. It was a part of the Duchy of Cleves. During World War II, the city was completely destroyed by Allied bombers during Operation Veritable.

Activity

The students get in so called Big Band. Every students can play Jazz,Rock or Pop or also classic music from famous movies.

There is also a tennis club, where the students get classes from experience international teachers.

Getting to the school from the airport

At the Bahnhof Goch take the Bus 86 towards Gennep Busstation and get off at Siebengewald. From there its a 11minutes walk to the school.

안녕하세요. 2019년 8월에 개스돈크에 입학한 유일한 한국인입니다. 일단 저희 학교에 소개에 앞서 모든 유학을 꿈꾸고 학교를 찾고 계신 분들에게 개스돈크를 추천합니다. 저희 학교의 기본 과목으로는 독일어, 체육, 수학, 라틴어, 영어, 종교가 있습니다. 그리고 학년에 따라서 7학년은 정치가 추가되고 수능 대비 반 아래 있는 학생들은 일주일에 3회정도 스스로 화학, 프랑스어, 정보(주로 컴퓨터 프로그램 등을 연습함), 음악 중에 선택이 가능합니다. 그리고 방금 언급한 수능 준비반은 11~13 학년으로 모든 수업을 스스로 선택하여서 스케줄을 만들 수도 있습니다. 학교의 규모가 다른 사립학교에 비해서 크기 때문에 선생님들의 하나하나 정성스러운 케어는 어느정도 한계가 있지만 그 대신 외국인 비율도 적어서 독일인과 더 많은 대화와 관계를 맸을 수 있습니다. 학생수 800에 육박하는 거대한 학교이지만 기숙사 생은 100도 되지 않아서 같은 기숙사를 사는 학생들끼리 친하고 주중에 수업이 일찍 끝나는 학년들의 경우 자유 시간이 많아서 스스로를 관리할 시간이 더 많이 주어집니다. 주중에 수업후에는 숙제시간이 있고 숙제는 기숙사 선생님이 검사를 해주 십니다. 학교가 기독교 학교인지라 다양한 체험과 신기한 학교문화가 존재합니다. 모든 수업과 공식일정이 끝난 후에는 통학생들이 귀가하고 기숙사 학생들만 학교에 남습니다. 주말은 격주로 기숙사 학생들도 집에 갈 수 있는 주 (외국인 학생들은 대부분 기숙사에 남지만 점심과 저녁이 제공되지않아서 직접 요리해서 먹거나 아니면 다른 도시에 놀러가서 밥을 먹을 수 있음. 이 주말 동안은 금요일 저녁에서 월요일 아침까지 자유이기 때문에 부모님이 독일에 잠깐 방문하신 경우에 자녀분들 데리고 다니실 수도 있습니다.) 와 기숙사 학생들이 남아서 같은 기숙사끼리 소풍을 가는 주말이 있습니다. 그리고 기숙사는 남자와 여자가 분리 되어있고 학년에 따라서 한번 더 나눠집니다. 기숙사 건물들이 모두 이어져 있고 식당 옆에 매점에서 간단한 간식이나 마실 것을 살수 있기에 생활하는데 불편함은 없음이다. 기숙사 내의 분위기는 활동적이고 유쾌하며 친절합니다. 학생들은 매일 아침과 점심, 저녁을 제공받는데 제 생각에는 꽤 괜찮은 식당 수준으로 맛있습니다. 아침에는 대부분 빵과 시리얼이 나오는데 과일과 차 종류도 많아서 나쁘지 않게 하루를 시작할 수 있습니다. 점심 메뉴는 매일 바뀌지만 전체적으로 고기요리/면/밥을 메인으로 나오며 샐러드와 채식주의자 학생들을 위한 다른 메뉴도 늘 제공됩니다. 많은 독일학교에서 채식을 메인으로 내세우는 경우가 있는데 저희 학교는 아닙니다. 저녁은 아침식사와 비슷하게 제공하지만 시리얼대신 메인 메뉴가 같이 제공됩니다. 학교시설은 전채적으로 깨끗하고 넓으며 체육관 3개와 테니스장 배구장 등 체육시설이 잘 구비되었으며 화장실과 샤워실은 깨끗하고 일인 일실 사용이 가능합니다. 빨래는 같이 할 수도 있습니다만 분실에 유의하시길 바라며 이름을 써 두시거나 표시를 하는 것을 추천합니다. 학교 옆 넓은 잔디밭과 학교 바로 옆에 있는 숲 그리고 그 안에 있는 연못까지 자연친화적으로 조경이 되어있고 평균적으로 기숙사 방은 넉넉하며 어떤 방은 2배에서 2.5배정도 큰 경우도 있습니다. 저는 독일에 유학을 온지 1년정도 지난 유학생입니다. 10개월정도의 어학을 마치고 학교를 가야한다고 했을 때는 그야말로 혼란스럽고 어렵게 생각을 하였습니다. 학교에 막 도착했을 때는 정말 눈 앞이 캄캄한 것이 무슨 말인지 체감을 할 정도였으니까요. 하지만 세상 어디를 가도 웃는 얼굴과 친절함 그리고 약간의 유머와 적극적인 자세는 늘 좋은 인상을 만들어 주죠, 즐거운 유학생활 저희 학교 gaesdonck와 함께하세요
