St. George´s School, Cologne について
Our pupils enjoy a busy schedule, filled with diverse and purposeful activities.
Our school is a full day school, enabling our pupils to explore and develop in a wide range of areas. Our curriculum offers pupils ample opportunity to develop creative and sporting talents, as well as progress academically. In addition, we offer a rich selection of extra-curricular activities. These take place during break times or after school and are supported both by our teachers and external specialists.
The school calendar is packed with events, which enrich our pupils’ experience. We have a full programme of sporting events, which allow our pupils to compete with each other, or between other schools in the local area and further afield. Regular performances provide opportunities to demonstrate musical and creative talents on stage. Fairs and exhibitions provide a platform for our pupils to showcase their achievements.
We embrace the whole school community in our activities. School fairs provide opportunities for families to meet, and we welcome involvement in our parents’ Round Table and International Club. Parents and other local community members are valued contributors to our wider curriculum, proving to be engaging speakers and insightful advisors in their areas of expertise.
Learning and discovery takes place beyond the classroom. Regular trips complement school life and help pupils connect learning to everyday experience. Residential trips and outdoor pursuits provide an enjoyable opportunity to cement friendships and challenge personal limits.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (International Baccalaureate Diploma Program)
授業フォーカス :This provides a broad, flexible and challenging framework which allows us to develop reflective and knowledgeable learners who are ready for the demands of the future. It allows us to nurture life-long learning skills, developing the whole child, not just knowledge and understanding alone.
授業目標 : The goal is International Baccalaureate Diploma to produce fully rounded individuals, ready for the challenges of university and beyond. カリキュラム : Our Middle School Department encompasses the age range 11-14, and the year groups Year 7 to Year 9.
In Middle School, pupils begin their journey through secondary education. This is an exciting time, which brings increased diversity in the curriculum, greater contact with specialist teachers and resources, as well as heightened independence and responsibility. We carefully support our pupils through this transition, providing a secure and enjoyable environment in which they can grow and learn.
The curriculum in Middle School is broad in scope, yet allows for in-depth study and personal exploration of specific areas. Subjects are taught discretely by specialists in the field, which ensures continuity in development and that prerequisite skills for examination courses and further study are embedded at an early age.
Our dedicated subject teachers work with the National Curriculum for England to structure pupils’ learning. This provides firm academic foundations for examination courses in Upper School and Sixth Form, as well as varied and stimulating opportunities for exploration and learning.
Our Upper School Department encompasses the age range 14-16, and the year groups 10 and 11.
All pupils in Upper School follow an academically diverse and challenging curriculum, which fosters their intellectual curiosity in a stimulating and rewarding environment.
Upon entering Upper School, pupils embark on a two-year course, preparing for internationally recognised International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) qualifications. These are international equivalents of the standard examinations taken by sixteen year olds in English schools. Success in these examinations can be accredited as the Mittlere Reife in Germany, and allows access to higher level study.
At this level, pupils can begin to tailor their curriculum to their aspirations and interests. We carefully design our IGCSE programme to ensure that pupils develop both depth in their understanding as well as breadth in their skills. All pupils follow core courses in English, German, Mathematics and Science. Furthermore, each pupil should chose at least one social science option. Pupils then select two further options from a range of subjects offered, to complement their core study. In additional, all pupils take part in physical education lessons to emphasise the importance of health and physical fitness.
Sixth Form Curriculum: IB
In our Sixth Form, we pride ourselves on creating an environment that is academically rigorous yet cares for the emerging needs of young adults. This is an exciting time of change and development, as our students take greater ownership of their academic path and prepare to step into the world of university and career. It is the culmination of their time in school, and we ensure that it is used to its full potential.
The Sixth Form provides the opportunity to explore new fields, broadening students’ experience and stimulating interest and inquiry. We offer a wide array of subjects and students can tailor their choices to suit their ability and aspirations. We offer students careful guidance in making these choices, to ensure that their personalised programme is the right one for them.
授業時間 : The core school day runs from 8:30-15:30, with drop off possible from 8:00. Optional club activities run until 16:30.
The secondary school operates a two week timetable, with 6 lessons of 55 minutes every day.

Cologne German: Köln is the largest city of Germany's most populous federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the fourth-most populous city in Germany. With slightly over a million inhabitants (1.09 million) within its city boundaries, Cologne is the largest city on the Rhine and also the most populous city both of the Rhine-Ruhr Metropolitan Region, which is Germany's largest and one of Europe's major metropolitan areas, and of the Rhineland. It is the largest city in the Central Franconian and Ripuarian dialect areas.
The city's Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) is the seat of the Catholic Archbishop of Cologne. There are many institutions of higher education in the city, most notably the University of Cologne (Universität zu Köln), one of Europe's oldest and largest universities, the Technical University of Cologne (Technische Hochschule Köln), Germany's largest university of applied sciences, and the German Sport University Cologne (Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln), Germany's only sport university. Cologne Bonn Airport (Flughafen Köln/Bonn) is Germany's seventh-largest airport and lies in the southeast of the city. The main airport for the Rhine-Ruhr region is Düsseldorf Airport.
