ELPのプログラムは、第2言語としての、国際語としての英語を習得できるように助けてくれ、アメリカの文化も体験する機会を提供します。このプログラムはまた、テスト、カウンセリングサービス、および多文化の訓練も提供します。これに加え、ペンシルベニア大学は、研究、発表、教育に集中することでESL(English as a Second Language)の関連職業に貢献します。ペンシルベニア大学のELP教員は、学校の外室生活で英語を使用できるように学生を奨励する方法の教授法を使用しています。すべての教員は、TESOLの修士号を所持しており、そのうち、博士号やMBA修士号を持っている講師もいます。

As an Intensive Program student, you will take a combination of core and/or elective classes depending on your level. All courses are designed to help you build fluency throughout your language development. All levels include 20 academic hours of classroom time per week.
Pre-intermediate to intermediate levels (300-500)
At the pre-intermediate to intermediate levels, you will take two core courses that focus on developing your listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary skills.
Note: The ELP does not teach beginners (level 100 and level 200).
Each level (300-500) has a set of core courses that build on the skills of the previous level.
High-intermediate levels (600-700)
At the high-intermediate levels, you will take one all-skills core class and two elective courses focused on specific skills relevant to your language goals.
Each level (600-700) has specially designed courses that build on the skills taught in the previous level. Elective options at the high-intermediate level include topics like pronunciation, TOEFL Preparation, and Reading and Writing for Academic Purposes.
Advanced level (800)
At the advanced level, you will take four elective courses focused on specific skills relevant to your language goals. There are over 25 elective options at the advanced level, so you can take multiple sessions without repeating courses. Elective options at the advanced level include topics like Speaking in the Working World, English for Engineering, and Advanced Writing for Academic Purposes.
*Academic hours are used in universities in order to allow students enough time to travel between classes. 1 academic hour = 50 minutes

Students must turn 18 years old within 6 months of the first day of the program.
Students must have graduated from high school.
You will take an online placement test prior to arrival to determine your level. Important Note: The ELP does not teach beginners (level 100 and level 200).
* All applicants must pay a one- time non-refundable enrollment fee of $90.
** The multi-session discount on tuition and fees applies when a student enrolls and pays in advance for 2 or more consecutive sessions within the tuition year. The multi-session discount does not apply to the Summer 1 + Summer 2 combination. New prices go into effect Summer 2 of each year.
***Medical Insurance: All full-time student visa holders (F-1 or J-1) must purchase medical insurance through the ELP. Full-time students not on an F-1 or J-1 visa must provide proof of health insurance coverage.
****Total: The non-refundable deposit of $310 and the $90 enrollment fee, paid at the time of application, will be applied toward the student’s bill.
Refund:
*Prior to the start of classes, students can receive a refund of tuition and fees minus the non-refundable $90 enrollment fee and the $310 tuition deposit.
Before the end of the first week of classes, students are entitled to a refund of 75% of tuition less the $90 enrollment fee and the $310 tuition deposit. Fees,
insurance, and housing are governed by separate policies and may not be refundable depending on when a student withdraws
